Alexander Binder was born in 1976 in the Black Forest.
He holds a degree in economics and is a photographic autodidact.
Years ago he started to modify his whole equipment and
developed a technique which combines the advantages
of modern digital photography with the most simple methods
of optical projection.
He uses d-slrs with self-made pinhole-, acrylic- and
kaleidoscope-lenses to create his works. Binder finds the
technical inspiration for his photographic experiments
in vintage school books about physics for the so-called
‘Sekundarstufe’ education (~ German for High School
education). This kind of books – and especially the amateur
-experiments with light – heavily influence his way of
photographing.
